There is one major business district to consider when looking to lease office space in Chicago – The Loop.

The Loop is Chicago’s Central Business District and is the second-largest business district in the U.S. It is densely populated with some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, and is home to both commercial businesses and many cultural organizations, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, making it an ideal place to lease office space.

SHORT AND SIMPLE LEASE TERMS

Do you know where or how big your company will be a year or two from now? Of course not. We don’t expect you to be able to predict the future and to prove it we offer short-term leases. You’ll also have the flexibility to expand to another Boxer-owned building without breaking your contract, should you need more space mid-lease. Plus, our short, easy-to-understand lease agreements make closing the deal a cinch.

EXECUTIVE SUITE AMENITIES

We understand that entrepreneurs need the same types of amenities as corporations to be comfortable, productive, and creative. That’s why we offer a variety of features (which vary by building) like free Wi-Fi, ample parking, secure key card access, complimentary coffee bars, conference room access, on-site property management, and stylishly designed common areas where you can meet and work with other tenants.

CHICAGO OFFICE SPACE CONSIDERATIONS

The Windy City continues to attract businesses both large and small with its sheer size, central location, cultural offerings, and rebounding economy. As the third-most populous city in the nation, Chicago has 2.7 million residents, with nearly 7 million more in the surrounding metropolitan area. It plays a major role in the international economy, housing 160 company headquarters including 30 Fortune 500 companies. In 1871, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed much of the city and ushered in the largest building boom in the nation’s history. Today, Chicago’s skyline features some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, including Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) and Trump International Hotel and Tower, the second and fourth-tallest buildings in the nation, respectively. The city has always beckoned to entrepreneurs, and they still come in droves.

Chicago’s Central Business District, “The Loop,” spans an eight-block by five-block area encircled by elevated rail tracks. (Locals also use the term to refer to the entire Downtown area.) Here, you’ll find an eclectic mix of historic buildings, skyscrapers, and newer mixed-use developments. Vacancy rates in the city have been dropping in the past couple of years, making it tougher to secure space. Hotels and new condominiums populate the New Eastside, which also features a triple-level street system to keep traffic flowing. Popular destinations include the Magnificent Mile for upscale shopping, and the Theater District for music and theater, restaurants, bars, and hotels.

Tourism plays a large part of the economy here, with more than 50 million people coming in to visit the city in 2014. The culture, dining, diversity, nightlife, and leisure activities of Chicago continue to draw people in. Equally attractive are its many conventions — McCormick Place features four interconnected buildings and is the largest convention center in the nation (and third-largest in the world). Other major industries include manufacturing, financial services, engineering, printing, publishing, and food processing.

Definitely consider location when choosing an office in the city. Chicago’s convenient layout makes for one of the most walkable large cities in the nation, but it frequently lands on lists of cities with the worst traffic. The city proper has seven major Interstate Highways crossing through it to help alleviate congestion, while commuters also take advantage of the extensive public transportation system that serves most of the metro 24/7. Making business travel easier are Chicago’s two airports: O’Hare International Airport on the northwest side, and Midway International Airport on the southwest side.

Chicago is home to the sixth-most ENERGY STAR certified buildings in the nation, with more in the works. Consider the energy-efficient improvements made to any property you’re considering. Chicagoans experience four distinct seasons, so any energy improvements can go a long way in lowering your heating and cooling costs, as well as conserving valuable resources.
