Getting Around The Woodlands
Just to the west of I-45 and 28 miles north of Houston, The Woodlands is made up of multiple villages. Each village operates as a small town on its own with shopping centers, community organizations, school systems, recreational offerings, healthcare facilities, and churches. Each village features unique neighborhoods with different home styles, price ranges and amenities.
The Woodlands is located mostly in Montgomery County and is a heavily forested area. Its trees give the area its namesake and provide shade and decoration for local residents and businesses.
The Scoop on the Neighbors
Although The Woodlands began as an average suburban development, it has blossomed into a popular and highly demanded area by both homeowners and businesses. Today, The Woodlands houses the corporate campuses of major corporations such as Chevron Phillips, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Woodforest National Bank, Baker Hughes, Huntsman Corporation, CB&I, McKesson Corporation, GeoSouthern Energy, ExxonMobil, and Southwestern Energy Company.
The Woodlands features family-friendly entertainment including movie theaters, restaurants and dancing waterfalls with music. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is the summer home of the Houston Symphony and features a variety of entertainment from popular rock bands to classical concerts. The Woodlands Waterway is similar to the River Walk in San Antonio and will eventually be more than 1/2 mile long with lit sidewalks on both sides and Waterway Taxis. Market Street resembles an old-fashioned main street and The Woodlands Mall is adjacent to it and the waterway, resulting in a large walking shopping district.
