Greg Bruegger is an artist living and working in
Houston, Texas. He received a BFA from the
University of Houston. Grants have funded the
proliferation of his work and he has participated in
municipally funded projects. In 1997 he received
the Holub Grant from the Denver Art / Media
Network. Coming out of tradition, Greg seeks to
reinterpret the notion of contemporary art and its
role in society. Form, scale, and color dominate
his sculptures. Influenced by architecture,
Bruegger's work deals with spatial relations in an
urban setting. With a tendency towards public art,
he has sought to take fine art out of the gallery
space and recontextualize it in "real world"
settings. His interest in the object creates a
visual dialog resulting in a relationship between
the viewer and the artwork. Currently, he is
working as artist-in-residence with Boxer Property,
a property management company. The ongoing project
seeks to raise the cultural integrity of existing
commercial office space. |
